WATCH: Murray last played the BNP Paribas Open in 2021, reaching the third round.

The BNP Paribas Open announced Andy Murray and Sofia Kenin will feature in the men’s and women’s singles main draws, respectively.

Murray thanked Indian Wells for the wild card on Instagram on Tuesday, posting a photo from his most recent appearance last fall.

“I don’t know if I’m happy or sad in this photo but certainly ugly,” joked the former world No. 1, who reached the third round before bowing out to Alexander Zverev.

A finalist at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in 2009, Murray is set to make his 14th main draw appearance, having last reached the semifinals in 2015.

Kenin will join fellow wild card Naomi Osaka after both missed the tournament in 2021. Injuries and inconsistency have kept the American from playing her best tennis since a breakthrough 2020 saw her reach two major finals and win her first Grand Slam title in Melbourne.

She last played Indian Wells in 2019, when she pushed eventual semifinalist Elina Svitolina to three sets.

Former champion Bianca Andreescu is currently not on the entry list, having not played a match in six months after surrendering her BNP Paribas Open title to Anett Kontaveit in the third round.
