PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla.(AP) Alona Bondarenko won 11 of the last 15 games to defeat her sister Kateryna 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 Wednesday in the second round of The MPS Group Championships.
The 24-year-old Alona Bondarenko, who is two years older, fell behind 3-1 in the second set after losing the first. She then broke serve the remainder of the set to win. The streak included a 13-deuce game.
The Ukrainians traded games early in the third set and were tied at 3-3 before Alona Bondarenko broke twice and won the final three games.
Alona's win tied the sisters' series at 3-3. They last met in 2006.
Alona Bondarenko will meet either top-seeded Nadia Petrova or 14-year-old American Madison Keys in the quarterfinals. They were scheduled to play Wednesday night.
