This week[-ish], TENNIS.com editor Kamakshi Tandon and I are discussing John Newcombe's Bedside Tennis, a collection of anecdotes and observations by the legendary Aussie player published in 1983.

Hi Steve,

What book should we do next, you asked – Infinite Jest or the collected works of Dmitry Tursunov? Talk about two extremes to chose from! Tursunov's favourite book is apparently Master and Magarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, so maybe that's a sort of compromise. I wonder if Bulgakov ever used a line like "Of course the kid [I defeated] was 15 but c'mon! I’m blond! We all have our excuses!"

Anyway, survey says the next book is Break Point by Vince Spadea, so at least we'll be able to figure out what Andy Roddick is so (not) riled up about. Unfortunately, Tursunov won't be entertaining requests to chime in:

I have to consider that at some point Vince might come out with “Break Point: Payback is here!” and I might end up in it. So to answer your question, yes Vince always has a hot babe on his arm. He just deflates her and leaves her in the locker before walking out onto the court!
