Sarah Borwell, who suffered a head injury after being hit in the head with a ball during her doubles semifinal in Stanford, retured with a first-round doubles loss in Quebec City on Wednesday.

Borwell and doubles partner Raquel Kops-Jones lost to Stephanie Foretz Gacon and Karoline Woerle 6-1, 6-4.

"Survived a match," Borwell wrote on her Twitter account. "played ok,considering I hav[e] zero reaction skills."

Borwell's injury was initially diagnosed as a concussion but later tests also showed some bleeding in the brain. "I've got no balance whasoever," she said at the time. "One of the tests I've had to do is stand on one leg with my eyes shot and I can't do it."
