After going 4-2 in his first two grass-court seasons in 2021 and 2022, the 22-year-old Spaniard is 23-1 on it since the start of 2023, the only loss coming to Jack Draper in the second round of Queen's Club last year.

Towards the end of the first set on Friday, it looked like Alcaraz might be in trouble for a second straight day, as he found himself serving at 4-5, 0-30—but he shifted into high gear from there, winning 13 of the next 17 points to close out the first set, then breaking Rinderknech one last time midway through the second set en route to the straight-set victory.

It was the world No. 2's tour-leading 40th win of the season, and his 16th in a row, which is the longest winning streak of his career.

Awaiting the No. 1-seeded Spaniard in the semifinals will be either No. 4-seeded Holger Rune or former Top 10 player Roberto Bautista Agut, who played the last quarterfinal match of the day.
