Carlos Alcaraz has kept his word. The world No. 1 has fulfilled his promise to commemorate his 2025 US Open victory with a pair of new tattoos.

The 22-year-old unveiled fresh ink on his right arm in a social media post over the weekend, adding two iconic New York City landmarks—the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge—to his growing collection.

After his four-set US Open final victory over rival Jannik Sinner—the pair’s third consecutive Grand Slam final against each other—Alcaraz famously dyed his hair platinum blond. He also made a promise.

"I'm gonna do two things," he told press in New York.

"I had a bet at the beginning of the tournament: the Brooklyn Bridge. And obviously the Statue of Liberty.

“I'm gonna do both. And the date. Because this one is special. I have to get a tattoo twice."

Over the weekend, Alcaraz delivered photo evidence. He visited his regular artist, Ganga, and shared images of the tattoo process in an Instagram carousel captioned “my week lately.”

Alcaraz won two Grand Slams in 2025, defending his Roland Garros title in a five-set final epic and capturing his second US Open crown. The victories took his career major tally to six.

The Spaniard has made a tradition of commemorating Grand Slam wins with tattoos, dating back to his first US Open title, which he marked with “11.09.22” on his left arm to honor the date of his first major final victory.

With each major, the designs have grown bolder. He has added the Eiffel Tower for Paris, a strawberry for Wimbledon, and his personal tennis motto—cabeza, corazon y cojones—before now turning to New York City landmarks to mark two titles in Flushing Meadows.

It has been an eventful stretch for Alcaraz off the court as well. Last week, he announced the end of his seven-year partnership with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, a move that sparked widespread speculation due to its abrupt timing and lack of detail. The split comes in the middle of the off-season, just weeks before the Australian Open—the only major Alcaraz has yet to win, and the only one where he has not advanced beyond the quarterfinals, as he continues his pursuit of a career Grand Slam.

There are plenty of questions surrounding Alcaraz heading into 2026, but his focus is already shifting to Melbourne—and one thing is clear.

When asked what tattoo he would get if he ever wins the Australian Open, his answer came quickly.

"I will get a kangaroo [tattoo] for sure, that's my idea,” he told Aussie press in January. “The only thing missing is to lift the trophy here but it's definitely the plan if it happens,"
