Carlos Alcaraz’s story is still being written, but a piece of his already legendary career could soon belong to one lucky bidder.

The Spaniard’s 2023 Wimbledon-winning Babolat racquet is currently up for auction at Prestige Memorabilia, and with more than a week left before the close, the tennis-only auction house is already predicting a record-breaking final price.

“This is by far the most significant item to ever surface from Alcaraz’s young but already historic career, used in a match that many consider to be a generational turning point,” reads the lot description.

Back in 2023, a 20-year-old Alcaraz captured his second Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in dramatic fashion, defeating Novak Djokovic—the four-time defending champion—in an epic five-set thriller, 1-6, 7-6 (6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.

That victory marked a defining ‘changing of the guard’ moment in tennis: It was the first time since 2002 that a Grand Slam’s top seed and eventual champion was not part of the Big Four, and it handed Djokovic his first Centre Court loss in a decade—a symbolic passing of the torch to the Next Gen era.

According to Prestige Memorabilia, the customized pro stock Babolat racquet used by Alcaraz to clinch that victory has been photomatched by Resolution to 10 separate dates, including the July 16 final and four other matches and practice sessions during the 2023 grass-court season.

The racquet features Alcaraz’s signature on the grip, and still bears the original Babolat customization sticker and a stringing sticker from the 2023 Championships.

Since the auction opened on September 30, it has already attracted 10 bids, with the current high standing at $21,437 from a private bider. That number is expected to sour as the October 19 (9:00 p.m. EST) closing date approaches.

Prestige Memorabilia currently holds the all-time record for a match-used racquet, set in June when Rafael Nadal’s 2017 Roland Garros-winning racquet sold for just over $157,000. But Alcaraz’s racquet is expected to surpass even that, with a pre-sale estimate of $200,000.

It wouldn’t be the first time Alcaraz memorabilia has shaken up the tennis collectibles market.

The ball from the championship point of the 2025 US Open men's final sold for a staggering $88,900 at Sotheby's in September—nearly ten times the previous auction record for a tennis ball.

And in June, Alcaraz set two separate records in the tennis card market. His 2024 Topps Royalty “racquet knob” card fetched a record $222,000 at Fanatics Fest’s June Premier Auction, while his 2022 NETPRO autographed rookie card sold the next day for $237,907 at Goldin Auctions—the new all-time record for a men’s tennis card. Serena Williams remains the only tennis player to surpass that figure, with her top card sale of $266,400.
