LAUSANNE, Switzerland(AP) The Court of Arbitration for Sport has upheld the two-year doping ban given to Spanish tennis player Laura Pous Tio.
Pous Tio tested positive for banned diuretics hydrochlorothiazide and amiloride during the 2007 Wimbledon qualifying tournament. Her ban started in October of that year, but she appealed to CAS.
``The CAS Tribunal rejected the player's contention that she bore no fault or negligence or no significant fault or negligence,'' CAS said on its Web site.
CAS also upheld the disqualification of Pous Tio's results from the Wimbledon qualifying tournament and subsequent events.
Pous Tio, 24, will be eligible to play again Oct. 1. She held a career high ranking of No. 75 in 2005.
