Casper Ruud announced plans to compete in Laver Cup for a fifth straight year on Wednesday, the world No. 13 set to rejoin Team Europe alongside Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, and Holger Rune under newly appointed team captain Yannick Noah.

“The Laver Cup is incredible, bringing together Europe, with its rich tennis history, to take on the rest of the world,” Ruud said in a Laver Cup press release.

Ruud made his Laver Cup debut in 2021 and holds a 4-2 record at the team event. In 2024, he partnered Alcaraz to win a crucial men’s doubles match over Team World’s Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe, helping lead Team Europe to a 13-11 victory.

“I love representing Europe, and doing my best for the whole continent, not just my country. The team aspect is unique – getting to play alongside guys who are usually my rivals and to support each other is something we don’t experience often.”

Noah and Vice Captain Tim Henman will be stepping in for previous captain Bjorn Borg, who led Team Europe to five victories out of seven championships since the inaugural competition in 2-2017.

“They are a dynamic duo and it’s going to be really cool,” said Ruud.

The 2025 Laver Cup will take place at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California, from September 19-21.

“I’m excited to visit San Francisco for the first time. I’m a big Golden State Warriors fan, so playing in Chase Center will be something special.”

The remaining two team members of Team Europe will be announced in the coming weeks. Team Worls currently consists of Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul, and João Fonseca, and will be captained by former world No. 1 Andre Agassi.
