Alize Cornet says she will be sidelined from the tour for six months with a back problem.
"I have a bruised vertebrae, and a disc that's affected ... it's almost like a stress fracture," she said in French. "Even in everyday things, it's not simple. I have to find the right balance between not putting too much on my back, but staying active."
The Frenchwoman is No. 39 in the rankings.
