Former Roland Garros finalist Alex Corretja appears to be the leading candidate to replace Albert Costa as captain of Spain’s Davis Cup team, various Spanish publications report. Former Roland Garros champion Carlos Moya was also mentioned as a candidate, but before getting on a plane to China, Moya tweeted that he will not take the job. Costa officially resigned on Thursday.

El Pais reports that the Spanish Tennis Federation will name a new captain by Tuesday. Whomever is named new captain will face a stiff challenge in 2012, as Rafael Nadal, David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez have all said they will skip Davis Cup next year in order to focus on the Olympics.
