The road to Roland Garros is in full swing, and Alexander Zverev—who figures to be a dark horse at the season’s second Grand Slam—was in top form at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters on Monday.

The world No. 20, who won his second career title in Montpellier in February, breezed past Italian veteran Andreas Seppi, 6-1, 6-2, in his opener. The 19-year-old German, seeded 14th in Monte Carlo, will play Feliciano Lopez for a spot in the third round.

In other action in Monaco, world No. 1 Andy Murray was on hand to watch countrymen Kyle Edmund and Daniel Evans duke it out in the first round. Edmund took the first set, 7-5, from his Davis Cup teammate and had an easier time in the second, winning 6-1 on his fourth match point.

Next up for Edmund is none other than reigning champion Rafael Nadal, who has won this tournament nine times.

Ninth-seeded Tomas Berdych also advanced with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Andrey Kuznetsov, and Roberto Bautista Agut came from a set down to defeat Nikoloz Basilashvili, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.
