Daniel Evans is yet another player announcing his withdrawal from the Olympics, saying he has tested positive for coronavirus.

It comes just a day since fellow British player Johanna Konta also announced that she is recovering from coronavirus and will not be going to the Games.

"I'm hugely disappointed and currently self-isolating according to the guidelines," Evans said in a statement, adding that he was not in a position to "prepare and get myself ready for the Olympic Games in Tokyo."

Around two dozen players have withdrawn among the men, including Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Dominic Thiem, David Goffin and Stan Wawrinka. Some top names in the women's competition will also not be playing, including Simona Halep, Bianca Andreescu, Sofia Kenin and Serena Williams.

While some are ill or injured, others have cited concerns around pandemic restrictions, which include team member limits and no spectators.

Evans is No.28 in the rankings.
