As a New Yorker, I'm happy to say that it's nice to know that it also rains somewhere else in the world on finals day. Who's going to forget that yet-again wet ending at Flushing Meadow just a scant few weeks ago. Of course, I sympathize with the organizers in Beijing, and the delay there may have some unfortunate repercussions for the China Open finalists, Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer, because both are entered in the Shanghai Masters, the more important of the two events (the China Open is an ATP 500, Shanghai is a Masters 1000). And play in Shanghai has already started.
Better finish up quick, boys. After the handshake and trophy-presentation photo op, just stuff your wet socks and shirts into a giant zip lock bag and stow it in your racket bag. You've got no time to waste before you hit the road for Shanghai. . . Good luck to both finalists, y'all can gather here to call the match. . . Have a pleasant Sunday and Columbus Day holiday, everyone.
