Tomas Berdych says he will play for the Czech Republic in the Davis Cup semifinals against host France. The tie will be staged on red clay at Roland Garros, Sept. 12-14.

Berdych announced on social media that he will play in the semifinals, writing on Twitter, "I am always proud to play for my country...I will play Davis Cup against France."

The 28-year-old had previously said he would not play away ties this year after helping his country win the Davis Cup two years in a row. He did not take part in the quarterfinals in Japan. But teammate Radek Stepanek had said that with the Czechs just two ties away from another title, he expected that Berdych would return to the team once more.
