Czechs take commanding 2-0 lead over Belgians

BREE, Belgium (AP)—Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek won in straight sets to give the Czech Republic a 2-0 lead over Belgium in the opening round of Davis Cup.

Berdych defeated Olivier Rochus 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 Friday, and Stepanek downed Xavier Malisse 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 (3).

Lukas Dlouhy and Jan Hajek will play Steve Darcis and Rochus in doubles on Saturday.

The winner will meet either Chile or Israel in the quarterfinals in July.
