Daniil Medvedev is into the quarterfinals in Miami for the fourth year in a row after a 7-6 (5), 6-0 fourth-round victory over Dominik Koepfer at the Masters 1000 event on Tuesday.

And his straight-set victory over the German lefty was a special one: it was the milestone 350th tour-level win of his career.

Medvedev is just the fourth man born in 1990 or later—and second man born in 1995 or later—to hit that number.

MEN BORN IN 1990 OR LATER WITH 350+ WINS (tour-level):

  • 430: Grigor Dimitrov [born in 1991]
  • 410: Alexander Zverev [born in 1997]
  • 380: Milos Raonic [born in 1990]
  • 350: Daniil Medvedev [born in 1996]

Kei Nishikori, who has 433 career wins, just missed out on being on the above list—he was born on December 29th, 1989.

And Dominic Thiem, who was born in 1993, is likely to become the next man to join the list, with 347 career wins as of now.

Medvedev is through to the quarterfinals of the Miami Open for the fourth consecutive year.

Things couldn’t have been closer between the two players in the first set on Tuesday. After trading breaks in the third and fourth games, they both held tightly to their service games en route to the tie-break, where Koepfer jumped out to a 4-0 lead—but Medvedev struck back, winning seven of the next eight points to sneak out the opening frame after exactly an hour on court.

From there it was all Medvedev, who steamrolled through the second set at love in just 29 minutes, finishing the match with a solid 17 winners to 19 unforced errors. Meanwhile, Koepfer’s numbers went somewhat awry in the second set, as the German finished with 20 winners and 29 unforced errors.

“Sometimes it happens when you lose the first set, the way he lost it—he played very good—probably was closer to winning it because 4-0 in the tie-break, when you lose the set, especially some of the points were really tough, it brings your energy down,” Medvedev said. “I knew I had to use that in the beginning of the second set, and I managed to do it, and that happens.

“But the level was high today.”

Medvedev is now through to the quarterfinals of the Miami Open for the fourth straight year. After back-to-back quarterfinal finishes in 2021 and 2022, he went all the way to the title in 2023.

Awaiting the No. 3-seeded Medvedev in this year’s quarterfinals will be the winner of the fourth-round encounter between No. 7 seed Casper Ruud and No. 22 seed Nicolas Jarry.
