David Goffin is aiming to play in London, despite busy two weeks

David Goffin moved into the eighth qualifying spot for the ATP Tour Finals with his victory in Tokyo, and the Belgian says he's eager to compete for his first appearance at London.

It would make a busy season finish even busier for the Belgian, who will also be the top player for his country as it takes on France in the Davis Cup final the following week.

But Goffin is fired up and wants to keep playing despite winning back-to-back titles at Shenzhen and Tokyo.

"I'm a bit tired from two demanding weeks," he was quoted as saying by Belgian press. "[Now] I'm going to go to Shanghai. Happily, I'm not mentally tired."

The 26-year-old had to take several weeks off with a bad ankle injury he experienced during the French Open. "The injury I had, it is maybe something bad that is finally good, because it allowed me to stay fresh. I came back 100 percent, hungry for victories and with desire to compete."

Goffin now has 2,750 points and is in eighth position in the standings among players planning to play the Tour Finals. But with Sam Querrey and Kevin Anderson within a few hundred points of him and others further behind still in a position to gain ground, Goffin will be looking to keep up his level at Shanghai and the indoor tournaments.

The victory also gives him his biggest career title.
