MARSEILLE, France (AP) Nikolay Davydenko had nine aces and didn't face a break point in a 6-1, 7-5 win Tuesday over Andreas Beck of Germany in the second round of the Open 13.

Davydenko broke Beck's serve three times in the match. The Russian will face fourth-seeded Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina for a place in the quarterfinals.

In other first-round matches, Frenchmen Nicolas Mahut and Albano Olivetti, and Igor Kunitsyn of Russia advanced in straight sets. David Goffin of Belgium led 6-2, 1-0 against Adrian Mannarino when the Frenchman retired.

Later Tuesday, No. 5 Richard Gasquet of France will play Go Soeda of Japan.
