Juan Martin del Potro is ready to begin rehabbing his left wrist, having had a medical examination at the Mayo clinic six weeks following surgery.

"He has been wearing a special splint to support his wrist while his ligament repairs heal," said a statement released by his management.

"Dr. Berger was very pleased with everything about the examination. The ligament repairs have healed exactly as planned, and he will begin an intense period of rehabilitation for regaining motion and strength."

The statement did not address Argentine reports that del Potro had said he might return in "August or September" from the surgery.

"This rehabilitation will continue until Juan Martin is ready to re-enter competitive tennis," said the statement.
