Denis Shapovalov says he will stop playing junior events following his recent success on the ATP and Challenger tours.

Shapovalov, who won the junior singles title at Wimbledon, defeated Nick Kyrgios as a wild card in Toronto. He then reached the quarterfinals of the $100,000 Challenger in Granby.

"I learned this is the level where I should be playing," he said, according to the *Montreal Gazette*.

At 17, he would be eligible to play at the junior level for another season, but he’s decided to take a step up and face tougher competition.

"I’m going to play only Challengers, or higher," Shapovalov said.

He added that he will play another Canadian Challenger next week, and then will take a vacation before starting to train for a series of American Challenger events.

Shapovalov has moved up to No. 273 in the world.
