NEWPORT, R.I. (AP)—American Taylor Dent has lost to Go Soeda in the opening round of the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.
Soeda, Japan's top-ranked player, won 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 on Monday for his second career ATP tour victory. The other came in Beijing in 2008.
The eighth-seeded Dent, still trying to regain his game after three back surgeries in 2008, was steady with his overpowering serve in the final set until being broken in the last game of the match.
