Russian teen Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova blows a set and 4-2 lead in a loss to compatriot Alisa Kleybanova in Dubai, 6-4, 4-6, 0-6. No.14 Pavlyuchenkova forgot to enter the event so she had to go through the qualifying.
Later, she told the Gulf News that she wants to be her country’s best player.
"The presence of players like Svetlana and Maria is a really huge motivation for me. These are players who I have looked up to while growing up playing my tennis and I would definitely want to be the best Russian player in the near future," she said. "But now that I am somewhere as the best in Russia I want to take the momentum further and be the best in the world as well."—Matthew Cronin
