Belgian Dick Norman announces his retirement at the TopShelf Open in the Netherlands. The 42-year-old Norman reached a career-high doubles rank of No. 10 in 2010. The 6-foot-8 left hander and his partner, Wesley Moodie, reached the 2009 Roland Garros final. The pair went on to reach the Wimbledon semifinals and U.S. Open quarterfinals that season.

Norman concludes a 22-year pro career with four doubles titles in seven ATP finals.

"My career was divided into three parts,” Norman told ATPworldtour.com. "In 1998 I retired for a couple of years and came back in 2000. When I came back I played well in singles and then in my third career, during the past few years, I focused on doubles and enjoyed that a lot too.

"It’s a beautiful life on tour and for sure I will miss the sun, since we see it during nine months a year. While at home I will spend most of my time indoors and only see the sun during two months in the summer.”
