With 10,000 onlookers present, Novak Djokovic lost a tight exhibition match—insofar as "losing" is involved at these hit-and-giggle events—in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to Gustavo Kuerten, better known to adoring fans globally as "Guga." Doffing the Darth Vader mask from about a month ago, when he lost to Sam Querrey after bageling his American foe in the first set, the world No. 1 instead donned a dark, curly wig to mimic Kuerten's own dome and its explosion of winding follicles.

Elsewhere, Djokovic premiered, by way of a recorded advertisement, his new Head racquet. Billed as his "secret weapon" and involving grainy practice-court footage, the clip shows Djokovic blowing a huge hole in a wall at a tennis complex, startling not Maria Sharapova but a man on an adjacent court in an inexplicable blonde wig. Meanwhile, on a beach far away, Roger Federer was physically if not figuratively buried compared to Djokovic's recent "off-season" output. No doubt on holiday in a fairly exotic locale, it's good to see Fed playful on social media.

It's not all easy living for Federer lately, though, as he recently imagined being a Brazilian sports star himself, in a new Gillette ad depicting him as a soccer (futbol) and volleyball stud—and some kind of dancer.

All that's to say this: The 2013 season can't get here soon enough. These stars have idle hands.
