Djokovic uncovered and upstaged

It took a woman, but Novak Djokovic has finally been truly upstaged this year.

In a new ATP World Tour Uncovered clip, the recent late-night TV maven and his precious, starkly level-headed girlfriend Jelena Ristic took to an English countryside mansion for a photo shoot that will become a Hello! magazine spread. Ristic emerges here as not just beautiful but composed and eloquent, a suddenly stunning woman. She was hardly a wench before, but just like her boyfriend, the girl has turned another corner.

0:46 -- Jelena Ristic, everybody. And note just how Western she sounds. For some reason it's amusing to hear a Serbian lass say "pampered."

0:55 -- Wow. Just wow. That's a dress. And a pretty girl. All class here ... and then there's her paramour, tennis's patron saint of hijinks. Still, no one would blame him for that little grab.

1:07 -- Okay, much funnier than hearing a Serb speak English in general is hearing him do it with a British brogue. "Absolutely marvelous!"

1:27 -- Take one look at this stretch of film, or the entire thing, and wonder with me: If Djokovic keeps up his winning ways, just how long is it before he and the lady funnel that clout into a budding Hollywood career for her? (Not rhetorical!)

2:14-2:16 -- Hilarity.

So Jelena stole the show. That much is clear here. Still, it's her man who is, in her own words, at the top. And, scary enough, still rising. Djokovic was handed some more loot to mark his ascension to No. 1 status as the Rogers Cup opened in Montreal, and just as that transparent trophy alludes, he remains at the apex of the tennis world, if not our human planet itself.
