Jelena Dokic joined Samantha Stosur as an Australian who admittedly got tight in a loss at Sydney. Marion Bartoli overwhelmed former Aussie Open quarterfinalist Dokic 6-0, 6-3. "It was not about her being the better player. I just really, really got nervous … I really froze," Dokic told reporters. "Usually I can control it. Usually it's not like that. I can get myself together even if it happens pretty quickly, within two, three games. At the latest by the end of the first set. That was not the case today."
Dokic said she felt the pressure of trying to perform before home fans.
"It's difficult because I grew up here," she said. "You know, I always want to do well here. 'It's very hard to play for us at home because we want to do so well. I think it's like that for a lot of players and you feel the pressure."
