Elena Vesnina is expecting a baby
Published Oct 02, 2018
Joining the recent WTA baby boom, Elena Vesnina has announced that she is expecting her first child.
Vesnina, who married Pavel Tabuntsov in 2015, revealed her pregnancy on social media. Martina Hingis also announced her baby news this week.
Vesnina has not played since the French Open, when she and doubles partner Ekaterina Makarova secured the No. 1 ranking despite not playing together. The 32-year-old did not say whether she plans to resume playing following the birth.
Several players have recently returned to tour after having a child, including Serena Williams, Mandy Minella, Olga Govortsova and Victoria Azarenka.
Vesnina has also been a Top 20 singles player and won three singles titles, including Indian Wells in 2017.
