Roger Federer reacts to the news that the ATP tour will reduce its season by two weeks in 2012 by moving four tournaments to other weeks and eliminating the week in between the Paris/Bercy Masters and the ATP Finals in London.
"It's in stone now," the ATP Player Council leader said. "I think it's good to have somewhat of a bit of a longer off-season. Will we have less or more injuries because the calendar is more packed? I don't know. But I definitely think it's a step in the right direction… But I think just having a bit more of an off-season makes more sense for everybody. I guess also for the media to really call it a year end. Otherwise, it feels like it's continuous, which can be confusing for some people. I don't think it is. But for the average guy that doesn't follow tennis the whole time, it feels like it's not stopped. But it is.”—Matthew Cronin
