Roger Federer tweets that he will play in Switzerland’s Davis Cup quarterfinal against visiting Kazakhstan in April. It would be the first time that Federer has played two consecutive World Group ties since 2004, when Switzerland lost to France in the quarterfinals. Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka is also committed to the tie.

However, the Czech Republic’s Tomas Berdych, who said in Australia that he only wants to play home ties this year, may opt out of his country’s quarterfinal against host Japan.

"I need to re-focus a little bit on my career,” he said. “That means the second round with Japan is still with a big question mark for me but the Czech team is good enough to win without me."
