GENEVA (AP)—Roger Federer is returning to the Davis Cup to help Switzerland try to reach the top-tier World Group.

Federer says on his official website he’s “really looking forward” to facing Portugal at home in a second-tier, second-round tie.

The matchup starts on July 8, five days after the Wimbledon men’s singles final.

Federer last played in the Davis Cup in September 2009, winning both of his singles as Switzerland beat Italy in a World Group playoff. He and Rafael Nadal both missed Spain’s victory over the Swiss a year ago.

The Swiss tennis federation says it will choose a venue for the Portugal tie within days.
