Mardy Fish has announced he is returning to the ATP tour, posting on his Twitter account that he has entered the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

The 33-year-old showed his name among those playing the event, using a protected ranking of No. 25. The American has had physical and psychological challenges related to a heart condition, and has not played since 2013.

The former No. 7 is also said to be playing doubles next week at the Dallas challenger.
