korda-engagement

Another member of the U.S. Davis Cup team is getting hitched. Sebastian Korda and longtime girlfriend Ivana Nedved are engaged!

The couple revealed that Korda, 25, popped the question to Nedved, 28, by posting a series of cute photo booth Polaroids on social media, where Nedved could be seen sporting her new diamond accessory.

"Forever and then some," the caption read, with the news received warmly by Korda's fellow pros including Coco Gauff and Alexei Popyrin, Korda's LPGA star-sisters Jessica and Nelly, and Tommy Paul's fiancée Paige Lorenze.

Nedved is the daughter of Czech soccer great Pavel Nedved, widely considered one of the best players in the country's history. Since going public with their romance in 2021, Korda has made no secret of how well she's fit in to his lifestyle as the son of two former tennis pros and the brother of two professional golfers.

“The best thing is she understands sports which is great,” Korda said in an interview with the *Daily Express* last year. “She understands how difficult it is to be a professional athlete and that there’s a lot of sacrifices. She’s an amazing partner to have and I’m very lucky to have someone that just understands it and always is trying to be there."

"I’m very appreciative whenever she comes and we have a lot of fun together," he added. "She takes my mind off of tennis and we have fun and can relax and go sightseeing a little bit and just be normal in a way when you’re outside the tennis courts and it’s massive for any athlete just to take their mind off of things and just be fresh and ready to go whenever you go back out there and practice.”

Korda's happy news was a happy salve to a heartbreaking end to his season on the court, as he failed to convert a match point in his semifinal loss to Lorenzo Musetti at the Hellenic Championship in Athens. Currently ranked No. 48, the American started the year by reaching the final in Adelaide, but missed two-and-a-half months of the season with a right shin injury, inlcuding Wimbledon.
