Stan Wawrinka says he is unsure whether he will play this week’s Paris Masters.

As the top seed in Basel, he played three three-setters and fell to Mischa Zverev in the quarterfinals, acknowledging that he felt more pressure as the local representative with Roger Federer not playing.

Wawrinka plans to decide on playing before the tournament begins.

"I will see the way I am feeling with my body, myself," he told reporters in Basel.

Wawrinka, who is in Novak Djokovic's half of the draw in Paris, also indicated that he was aiming to be fit for the ATP World Tour Finals.

"I know my game is there, but this tournament in Basel exhausted me,” he said. “I spent a lot of energy at all levels here. And then there is the [ATP Tour Finals] at the back. I want full motivation in London ... All season long, I've been occupied with that.”

Wawrinka is No. 3 in the rankings.
