CANUCKS UNITE  In support of August's Rogers Cup, Eugenie Bouchard and Milos Raonic played tennis on a barge in Toronto's downtown harbor this week. Shockingly, Raonic's product-placed hair looked charmingly disheveled by the time it was over.

Bonus: Bouchard talks favorite music. She avoids name-dropping "some random indie band," with no apologies to fellow Canadians Arcade Fire, et al. The likes of Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber do come up (of course), but she also references liking Kanye West's "oldies." (That's "Stronger," etc., if you were wondering. And yes, you may now feel old.) Here's the money quote: "My favorite [Shania Twain song] is 'From This Moment.' I sing that and I pretty much kill all living things around me. Birds and humans alike just die at the sound of my voice." It's a good thing then that Bouchard avoided belting out any melodies to Twain when the two grazed hands at a recent concert.

ICYMI  At 36, Patty Schnyder returned to pro tennis this week at the WTA Tour's Darmstadt event, bowing out of her first-round match against Sofiya Kovalets by a tough 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 score.  The two exchanged pleasantries and platitudes at the net afterward.

That was a far cry from Schnyder's most infamous handshake at net, this doozy delivered to Daniela Hantuchova at the 2007 Luxembourg tournament.
