Canadian teenager Denis Shapovalov won his first match since reaching the second round of the Rogers Cup on Tuesday, defeating Australian Luke Saville, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4), at the Challenger tournament in Granby, Canada.

He won again on Wednesday, topping Frenchman Gregoire Barrere, 6-4, 6-1.

The 17-year-old, who earned a wild card into the Granby National Bank Challenger, won the junior singles title at Wimbledon. He then made his presence felt at his hometown event when he upset Nick Kyrgios in his opener in Toronto. He fell to Grigor Dimitrov in the second round.

Shapovalov, ranked No. 291 in the world, is the youngest player in the Top 300.

"He and Kyrgios are both Australians, and I think he knew the result,” Shapovalov said in regard to Saville, according to the *Montreal Gazette*. “He knew it was going to be tough.”

Despite picking up some big wins of late, Shapovalov admitted that he “was a bit nervous at the beginning of the match," according to Canadian newspaper La Presse.
