WATCH: Fernandez was last on court at Roland Garros, where she endured a three-set defeat to Martina Trevisan.

Leylah Fernandez has recovered from her foot injury, allowing her to compete at home next week at the National Bank Open Toronto.

The 19-year-old Canadian has been sidelined since Roland Garros with a stress fracture, and had repeatedly delayed her comeback in recent weeks. She withdrew from Wimbledon, an Atlanta exhibition, and this week's Washington, D.C. event, creating doubts about when she would come back.

But she appeared at the draw ceremony for Toronto, confirming that she will play the WTA 1000 event.

''We've been trying extremely hard to get back into shape," she said. "But we still needed the doctor's opinion saying I'm good to go."

Now she has it, told the injury has "100 percent healed" and she can compete again.

That would have been significant for Fernandez, who has acknowledged she "underestimated" the injury when she played in Paris, reaching the quarterfinals but likely also prolonging her layoff.

She's returning just weeks before having to defend her finals appearance at the US Open.

In Toronto, she opens against a qualifier in the first round.

Fernandez, No.14 in the tour rankings, could play Iga Swiatek, ranked No. 1, in the third round.
