While Ash Barty and Bianca Andreescu—ABBA, as one writer put it—were facing off on the court in the Miami Open final, G.E.M.S. dropped some big off-court news on social media. In case you're unaware, that's Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina, stars on both Instagram (where the handle was born) and on their respective tours.

The 5th-ranked Ukrainian and the 14th-ranked Frenchman have been connected for some time, as you can see in the below interview with both of them, from last year. Their bond was forged even stronger on Saturday, as Svitolina revealed a fresh, bedazzled engagement ring—they're getting married.

We'll have much more on the big G.E.M.S. news, and the big Miami Open finals, throughout the weekend on TENNIS.com and Baseline.

"We're not perfect. We make mistakes. And we’ll make more mistakes. And that’s OK."

This is the principle established by G.E.M.S. Life, an Instagram account shared by Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina. The tennis power couple launched the collective enterprise in January 2019—their own unique approach of going public with their relationship. After a brief deactivation period, G.E.M.S. Life resurfaced last June, when Monfils uploaded a selfie video.

“Did you see they’re back?”, inquired the Frenchman.

“Who?”, Svitolina chimes in off-camera.

“G.E.M.S.”

“Already?!”

“Yeaaaah!” yowled Monfils.

The social media profile, which boasts more than 112,000 followers, gives an inside look at life (and downtime) on the road, while showcasing the charming juxtaposition of these two passionate personalities. It’s a match akin to two puzzle pieces—the duo’s trademark emoji caption closing.

Svitolina and Monfils will tie the knot come mid-July.

GM: Fun, kind and special.

ES: Funny, energized (all the time) and generous.

What would you say is your worst habit?

GM: Well, I’m never on time. It’s an easy answer!

ES: Probably throwing the clothes everywhere.

You can only eat one meal for the rest of your life… what is it?

GM: A simple one, spaghetti. Basic.

ES: It would be borscht, the Ukrainian soup.

Do you find that you are more of a planner or free spirit?

GM: Free spirit (laughter).

ES: I’m a planner, for sure.

If you traded places for one day, who would find it more difficult?

GM: Good one. I think we [would] both struggle, because she’s way too serious for me. And I’m way too laid back for her.

ES: He would definitely have an easier time!
