Is Andrey Rublev a US Open sleeper? | Game, Set, Bet, presented by BetMGM

The US Open is right around the corner and that means we can start thinking about some bets on the futures market. Normally it’s best to wait until the draw comes out for these plays, but sometimes value just jumps off the page, and that’s the case with Andrey Rublev.

BetMGM has him listed at +3300 to win the event. I’m not going to sit here and tell you that I’m confident Rublev can actually pull it off, but I feel great about his chances of reaching the quarterfinals, if not a step further. If he does that, there’s a great chance you’d be able to hedge and guarantee yourself money.

As of right now, 14 players are listed above Rublev on the odds board, but name me 14 players that are better than the 25-year-old. Rublev is having the best season of his entire career—he’s 40-15 since the start of 2023 and won his maiden Masters 1000 title in Monte Carlo in April. He also recently beat Casper Ruud 7-6 (3), 6-0 to claim the Swedish Open in July. Rublev is now seventh in the ATP rankings, and he’s also fifth amongst active players in UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) Rankings. No stat should suggest Rublev isn’t a Top 0 player, at the very least.

Rublev has also become one of the most reliable players on tour—a complete 180 for a player that used to battle some mental demons on the court. Rublev still shows his frustrations, but he is generally able to stay out of his own head, and he rarely suffers let-down performances. He didn’t end up beating Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon, but I thought he played a very good match against the Serbian. And that was a match in which few gave him much of a chance of winning even a single set.

You’ll want to keep coming back to our Betting Central section over the next couple of weeks, as we’ll have some additional US Open picks and props. But this is one you should take now, as this number is going to get worse if Rublev performs at a high level in Toronto or Cincinnati. And I think there’s a very good chance he does so.

Bet: Rublev To Win The US Open (+3300)
