VINA DEL MAR, Chile(AP) Daniel Gimeno-Traver advanced to second round of the Movistar Open on Monday when Alberto Martin retired with cramps while heading into a third-set tiebreaker with the match tied 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-6.

Potito Starace also advanced, beating Marcos Daniel 6-4, 6-4, and Juan Ignacio Chela defeated Pablo Andujar of Spain 6-0, 3-6, 6-1.

``I think I played generally well today, and I still expect to improve to continue to advance in this tournament,'' said Chela, who is recovering from injury.

Also, Juan Monaco beat Nicolas Devilder 6-2, 6-4.

Monaco reached the final in Vina del Mar last year but had to retire with an ankle injury, leaving the title to Fernando Gonzalez.
