Spanish player Guillermo Olaso has been banned from tennis for five years and fined $25,000 after being found guilty of offenses under the Uniform Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (UTACP), the Tennis Integrity Unit announced.

Olaso has a career high ranking of No. 167. The 25-year-old, who is currently ranked No. 236, was found guilty of three charges during the 2010 season, including:

*No [player] shall, directly or indirectly, solicit or accept any money, benefit or consideration for the provision of an accreditation to an event for the purpose of facilitating a commission of a corruption offense; or which leads, directly or indirectly, to the commission of a corruption offense.

*In the event any player is approached by any person who offers or provides any type of money, benefit or consideration to a player to influence the outcome or any other aspect of any event, or provide inside information, it shall be the player's obligation to report such incident to the TIU as soon as possible.

The final 18 months of the five-year period of ineligibility will be suspended providing that the player has attended authorized anti-corruption education and rehabilitation programs, that the $25,000 fine has been paid in full by that time and that he commits no further breaches of the UTACP.

No details of the hearing or decision will be made public.
