Hantuchova next faces Kaia Kanepi of Estonia in the second round.
In a second-round match on Wednesday in the outdoor hard-court tournament, American Vania King defeated Julie Coin of France 6-3, 6-3.
Top-seeded Jelena Jankovic of Serbia was upset in her first-round match, losing on Tuesday to Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. Third-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia faced Polona Hercog of Slovenia later in their second-round match.
