India's Sania Mirza says that her sore knee is feeling better and that she will resume playing singles. Mirza, who reached a career high No. 27 in 2007, had not played singles since Miami, but did continue to compete in doubles, where she is ranked No. 12. Currently ranked No. 192 in singles, she qualified for Brussels this week before falling to Monica Niculescu.
"I'm playing singles for the first time in a few months after making a conscious decision to focus on doubles, because of my knee and the way things went," Mirza said. "I feel like I have a lot of singles left in me, and after winning three quality matches so far here it's kind of confirmed in my head. I hope my knee continues to hold up. I'm having fun. I really do enjoy playing and competing in singles."
