Australian teenager Bernard Tomic says he and Lleyton Hewitt have settled their differences after speaking on the phone last week.

"We spoke, we've fixed it all up, it was just a bit of a misunderstanding we had, but we're all cool now which is the main thing," Tomic said in an AAP story.

"I called Lleyton in December and it was good to hear back from him about a week [ago]... There was the Australian Open coming up and a big season. He gave me a call after that which was good and we've sorted it out."

Tension between the two began when Tomic turned down an offer to practice with Hewitt at Wimbledon, later saying it was because he had been suffering from swine flu. During the lead up to the Australian Open this year, Hewitt said Tomic's results so far had not made him an obvious pick for Davis Cup.

With Hewitt sidelined because of hip surgery, Tomic has been named the second singles player for Australia in its Davis Cup tie against Taiwan next week
