Hubert Hurkacz won't play another match this year. In the middle of healing physically after knee surgery this summer, the former Top 10 player told fans and followers on Friday that he won't compete on the ATP tour for the rest of the season to be "fully ready to fight" in 2026.

The 28-year-old has been on the sidelines since mid-June. He has not played since withdrawing for his scheduled second-round match in 's-Hertogenbosch with a back injury, and announced that he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery while the tour competed at Wimbledon weeks later.

And while "everything is going as it should and looks really positive" in his rehab, Hurkacz still became the latest notable name to announce an early shutdown to the year this week.

"I know that in order to return to tournaments and compete at the highest level, I need to be prepared 110%," Hurkacz wrote in an Instagram post in English and Polish. "That is why the best decision is to start in the next season."

"I would like to thank you very much for all the messages, support and kind words I receive from you," he added. "This is extremely important to me and gives me a lot of energy."

The former Top 10 player is currently ranked No. 69, assuring that he will finish the season outside the Top 50 for the first time since 2018.
