100-GA! Iga Swiatek kicks off milestone 100th career week at No. 1 on the WTA rankings

This week is a very big week for Iga Swiatek, as she spends her milestone 100th career week at No. 1 on the WTA rankings.

She spent her first 75 weeks at No. 1 between April 4th, 2022 and September 10th, 2023, then dipped to No. 2 for eight weeks after Aryna Sabalenka took over the top spot, but then regained it on November 6th, 2023 after winning the WTA Finals—and this is the four-time Grand Slam champion's 25th straight week since then.

Swiatek is the ninth woman to reach 100 career weeks at No. 1.

Just outside the ATP Top 10, Taylor Fritz rises from No. 15 to No. 13, regaining his status as American men’s No. 1 after losing it to Ben Shelton for one week (as Shelton dips from No. 14 to No. 15).

Fritz had a breakthrough week in Munich, reaching the first ATP clay-court final of his career at the ATP 250 event before ultimately finishing runner-up to Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff.

Meanwhile, four Argeninian players coincidentally break into either the Top 50 or Top 100 in the same week this week.

First up, three 23-year-old Argentinian men: Mariano Navone rises from No. 52 to No. 41, his Top 50 debut, after reaching the Bucharest final; Facundo Diaz Acosta moves from No. 53 to No. 47, also his Top 50 debut, after a quarterfinal run in Barcelona; and Francisco Comesana jumps from No. 115 to No. 96, his Top 100 debut, after capturing the Challenger title in Oeiras, Portugal.

And 21-year-old Argentinian Julia Riera cracks the WTA Top 100, rising from No. 112 to No. 94 after winning the biggest title of her career at the $75,000 ITF Circuit event in Chiasso, Switzerland.
