World No. 1 Iga Swiatek will meet Coco Gauff in a rematch of last year’s Roland Garros final after advancing on a shortened day at the office Monday evening in Paris.

The two-time event champion led Lesia Tsurenko 5-1 when the Ukrainian pulled the plug on their fourth-round contest. A train and doctor visited with Tsurenko trailing 1-4, and while the 34-year-old attempted to play on following a consultation, made the decision to stop after getting broken at love.

Swiatek had opened a 4-0 lead before seeing her streak of consecutive games won ended at 23. The run dated back to when she closed out the opening set of her second-round win over Claire Liu, a moment that preceded three straight bagel sets

Gauff fell to Swiatek 6-3, 6-0 in the 2022 championship tilt to drop her maiden major singles final appearance. The American, who defeated Anna Karolina Schmiedlova. 7-5, 6-2, in booking a quarterfinal return, is yet to win a set in six prior meetings with Swiatek.
