Iga Swiatek reaches 90 career weeks at No. 1, just 10th woman in WTA rankings history to do so

There aren't too many big moves in the upper echelon of the rankings this week, but the woman at the top of the WTA rankings hits a big milestone—it’s Iga Swiatek’s 90th career week at No. 1.

Swiatek spent her first 75 weeks at No. 1 consecutively from April 4th, 2022 to September 10th, 2023 before Aryna Sabalenka took over for eight weeks last fall—but following her triumph at the WTA Finals in Cancun, Swiatek took the top spot back on November 6th and hasn’t let go again, this being her 15th straight week there since then.

The four-time Grand Slam champion is one of only 10 players to accumulate 90 or more career weeks at No. 1 in WTA rankings history.

The two women who won WTA titles last week both rise up the rankings today: Elena Rybakina, who won the WTA 500 event in Abu Dhabi, inches up from No. 5 to No. 4, switching spots with Jessica Pegula; and former No. 1 Karolina Pliskova jumps from No. 78 to No. 59 after winning her first title in more than four years at the Transylvania Open—a WTA 250 indoor hard-court event in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

The winners of the three ATP 250s last week also move up: American Tommy Paul, who won his second career ATP title in Dallas, moves up from No. 15 to No. 14, closing back in on his career-high of No. 12; France’s Ugo Humbert, who improved to 5-0 in his career in ATP finals with his triumph in Marseille, rises from No. 21 to a new career-high of No. 18; and Italian up-and-comer Luciano Darderi surges from No. 136 to No. 76—soaring past his previous high of No. 124 to make his Top 100 debut—after qualifying and winning his first ATP title in Cordoba.

And last but certainly not least, India’s Sumit Nagal makes his Top 100 debut too, jumping from No. 121 to No. 98 after winning a Challenger title on home soil in Chennai (more on his big breakthrough here).
