On Saturday, Cristian Garin continued his top-level play by taking out Marco Cecchinato in the semifinals of the BMW Open in Munich, 6-2, 6-4, to advance to his third final of the season.

Garin had saved two match points in his quarterfinal match to dethrone two-time defending champion and top seed Alexander Zverev in a thrilling three-setter.

The 22-year-old Chilean, who began his 2019 campaign with only one ATP main-draw win under his belt, has since won his first career ATP title—in Houston—and reached the Sao Paulo and Munich finals. Within a year, he has vaulted from No. 214 to a career-high ranking of No. 47. He is projected to enter the Top 40 on Monday.

Up next for Garin is either Roberto Bautista Agut or Matteo Berrettini for the Munich trophy.
