Garbine Muguruza says she's reacting much better to her second Grand Slam victory than her first, using her experience to not get distracted or sidetracked.

The 23-year-old from Spain had not won a title between her triumph at the 2016 French Open and her second major a few weeks ago at Wimbledon. Since then, she has reached the semifinals of all three events she has played in, including winning the WTA event in Cincinnati.

"I felt when I won French Open, you know, that was going to help me to win matches just because I won, or I could play like that the next tournaments," she told press during the week. "This time I'm not expecting to play like I played in French Open every tournament, you know. I'm not expecting, just because I won Wimbledon, I'm going to win Cincinnati."

Apart from some media appearances and a meeting with the President of Spain, Muguruza said she didn't do a lot following her win at SW19.

"I stayed very calm," she recalled. "I felt in Wimbledon, like, 'I did it again, what a great feeling.' OK, now I have to play."

Her goal is to be more consistent at each WTA tournament she plays, reducing the amount of first- and second-round exits she previously had.

"Every tournament, I will have to take it as a very important tournament," Muguruza said. "I feel like I'm a top player and I should be able to work hard and find a way to, you know, to go through all these tough matches."

Muguruza is ranked No. 3 on the WTA tour.
